You know how there are things you always think about doing but never ACTUALLY do them?  I know I have a long list of those things.

Entering my handmade items into the State Fair has always been something I wanted to try but never got around to it – until this year.

I’ve entered 2 dolls in the arts and crafts competition of the Oklahoma State Fair.

This elf is entered in the “Christmas character” category…

As with all of my dolls, his face was machine embroidered using designs I created myself, then color was added to his eyes.  The hat and sweater are from a lightweight cardigan I’ve repurposed.  I’m also loving the 100% cotton jersey from A Child’s Dream for making the faces this year.

This was the first doll I used Apoxy clay to hold the armature wire together at the hips and also in the feet.  It helps him stand better and I will definitely use the Apoxy on my wired dolls in the future.

This elf and his pink witch friend will be on display at the Oklahoma State Fair from September 12-22, 2019 – wish us luck in the competition!
