Two of my handmade dolls are going to the Great State Fair of Oklahoma this month. Little miss Pink Witch is entered in the “halloween character” category of the arts and crafts competition.
Her face was machine embroidered, then mohair yarn and a wool hat top her off. All those pleats in her outfit were not done by me. I cheated and used a pink linen blouse that already had all that detail built in.
The boots took days of development and I’m still not 100% happy with them but maybe about 88% pleased. I had the embroidery machine apply the tiny stitches to kraftex, then sculpted soles from Apoxy clay before adding the laces. They look like boots and certainly make her stand firmly on her own.
She and her elf friend will be on display at the Oklahoma State Fair from September 12-22, 2019 – wish us luck in the competition!
